Published on March 22, 2011 By Nakor In Demigod

I've published a new version today (1.30.160 on Impulse). There are no changes to the game code, it's a networking-related update for web services.

How is with logging into the impulse? As it is the same username/password are there any problems?

With password of all lower letters I doubt as I use mixed symbols (including capital letters) password and all worked fine.

By the way. First thing after update I did was - launched demigod through impulse. No ideas if this has any effect to this problem, but who knows... Also I use english version of game.

What did you do?

The last post I saw from jonn (before this one) indicated that he was reinstalling dg.  Not sure if that fixed it for him or what he tried.  He only speaks a little english, so its a little hard to communicate with him. Suffice to say, either SD fixed something on their end or something Jonn tried worked.  I suppose you could go the worst case route and reinstall dg (if that's an option for you - but I have no real idea if that will work or not).

The reason for shooting an email to support@stardock.com is that they have a tech support team that is often different from the folks that moderate and post news on the forums.  Anyway, shooting an email to support gets a ticket generated and adding to their pool, so you'll get a response from SD.

And like doggu said - I don't work for SD.  Just trying to help out folks that are having problems with DG after the update get back to playing.

I started DG in windowed mode and I opened my network connection to see how many packets have been sent. As I thought before - after entering a user/password and pressing "login" NO(!!!) packets were sent over my network connection. So it might be a software problem on client side.

That's a very interesting detail (to me, anyway).  I wonder if if has to do with blocked ports.  I'm about out of ideas, but perhaps check your impulsereactoroptions.exe file and specify some ports.  You can find it:  C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock Games\Demigod\bin\

Odds are that won't make a difference, but if you are stuck, might as well try.

dont know what to do anymore - i opened a support ticket now. i did a lot of things to fix it:

- choosing another username

- choosing another password

- restarting pc

- restarting router

- deleting all game data files

- reinstalling demigod

- changing ports in impulsereactoroptions.exe

- disabling of all firewall / av aplications

I am using the english version of DG on a german Version of winXP SP3. connection to router is a WLAN connection.

please let us know what happens with the ticket.  I'd imagine someone will look into it in the morning for you.  If I hear anything, I will let you know.

edit - sorry this has been such a pain for you.  I'm quite confident that SD understands that there is a small player base here and that they will do whatever is needed to fix any issues caused by this patch.

I'm off to sleep.  If I hear anything, I'll post from work in the morning.  Hope they sort all of you with problems out shortly.

Folks still having issues?  If the problem is solved, what did you do or did it just start working?

on Mar 23, 2011

FOUND A SOLUTION - AT LEAST FOR ME!!!!

I had to replace the patched ImpulseReactor.dll in the bin-directory of the game with an old one before the patch 1.30.160 was applied. it took quite a while to find that out.

So try out the folling steps if you ran into the same connection problems then i did:

  1. Rename the existing ImpulseReactor.dll file in your Demigod-bin-directory (e.g. C:\Programme\Stardock Games\Demigod\bin) into ImpulseReactor.dll_
  2. Download the old ImpulseReactor.dll from here.
  3. Copy the dll-file to your Demigod-bin-directory
  4. Have fun again!

Hope that will help some people...
